I was in Aden as a civilian working for P. & O. in 1949 and 1950. I had many good friends in the RAF and was made an honorary member of the officers mess at Steamer Point. I was the third member of my family to be in Aden. My uncle, Trenchard Fowle, was Assistant Resident form 1925 to 1928 and his father was Ordnance Officer in charge of the Aden Arsenal in 1889.

Did a 5 month emergency detached duty part at Khormaksa on air movements the remainder on security at Steamer Point in 1965. Returned in 1966 on a one year tour working on security and customs at Aden Civil Airport. Finished my tour in 1967 on the day of the floods. Thought we would not get home but fortunately we made it off near midnight.

I\'ve been looking through the postings but can\'t find any from other WRAC and only a couple from the Pay Corps. Where are they all? I was in Aden from Nov 65 to May 67 and would like to hear from any of the other girls who were there at that time especially Sue McWilliams. I used to talk to a chap in hospital when I was on guard duty and often wonder how he is. His name was Michael Bryant but I don\'t know which regiment or corps he was with

I was posted to Aden in October \'56 during the Suez Crisis (at 3 days notice!). The detachment of all B1 Tradesmen (I was a Clerk Technical) were to act on setting up the stores for 1 Div when things hotted up. Of course they didn\'t and we were forgotten men. I worked in the PSCO at 114 MU, living in RAF billets, eating their food and doing their (very light ) duties. We had no promotion but we got paid and it was a pleasant working environment so we didn\'t moan, life at Singapore lines was much rougher all round, I understood. The best part of the time there was the fortnight\'s leave in Kenya which I really enjoyed. I got a good camera, watch etc from the duty free shops so I shouldn\'t grumble. Memories of Xmas and the cocktails drunk out of the pint pots we drank our tea from. I was demobbed in Feb 58 having been sent home three weeks earlier - less said about Blackdown in winter avoiding fatigues the better.

I served from 23rd September to 25th November 1967. We gave Engineer Support for the withdrawal from Carter and final withdrawal from Aden. I remember well that we blew up an RAF Britannia that overshot the runway and ended up in the lagoon at the end of the runway.
The Royal Marines took ever for the final withdrawal.

I\'m looking for people who may have known my close friend, David Henderson, a Navy Writer on HMS Sheba who was killed, age 18, in the Tawahi district of Aden in May 1967 along with Marine Donald Calway. David\'s immediate boss was \'Bungy\' Williams. Another Writer on Sheba at the time was Peter Courtney Robillard. I would love to make contact with either of these two men, or with anyone else who knew David.

My first steps in remembering my experience in BFPO 69. I\'ve had them buried for years after the nightmares stopped. At only 17 and my first posting after training it was a baptism of fire. I was glad when in November 1967 I was posted out.

My brother Frank Gillespie was based in Aden in the early 60's, I think it was possibly in an admin role. He was seriously into trad jazz music which he shared with his colleagues. His nickname was Dizzy Gillespie and I was just wondering if anyone remembers him?

1 SWB controlled the Malla area of Aden, during Jan 67 until 45 took over at the end. We lost two good guys, but accounted for over 40 terrorists killed. A hard and difficult time with only one night off in all that time.
Domination of our area was the key to everything. It was interesting, most of our Platoon had been in Borneo in 65 so were \'battle hardened\' and well up for the task.
I have been on \'google earth\' and re-visited some of the areas.
