Dear Alumni,
Over several months, there has been a series of communications, some which have addressed our membership and have read with great interest unsolicited remarks and comments.

One “golden rule” is to respect the privacy of individuals and while HIPPA Privacy Rules provide federal protections for personal information held by formal entities and has limited application to our Association, it would be in that spirit we think through the downstream implications of communications on the Message Forum.

Clearly if someone has permission to share personal health information of another person that is a matter between those individuals. If you wish to share information on behalf of an individual, ask the reader to contact you directly for details in contrast to posting personal details.

In the absence of that understanding, everyone that engages in open discussion about another person on the Association’s Message Forum, is asked to remember that our site is a public site and other individuals and organizations will read information that may reflect a culture that is inconsistent with the mission of our Association.
