Simon\'s websites featuring churches show the very examples of church architecture that I have seen anywhere on the web.

In the church are plaques with soldiers names on from the first world war. There are a few with the name \'Skipper.\' These are my great uncles. My grandad was too young to join up at the time. My great grandma whose grave is in the yard used to run the fruit and vege shop in Castleacre too.

I was looking for more information about St Georges in Rollesby. My great grandfather Edmund Ensor left Rollesby in 1860 for NZ. His relatives had been rectors of the church for generations

Thank you so much for this incredible site! Much of mother\'s family lived in Norwich from at least the late 1500\'s, certainly attending several of these churches over the years. In 1907 My great great grandparents converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (\"Mormons\") and became very involved in their small congregation, often holding meetings in their home until a church could be found. They felt very connected to their little old chapel on Park Lane (the old Swedenborgian church) and it was so nice to see such wonderful photos and history of it! They were devastated to leave it, but all their children moved to America, so they eventually immigrated to be near them.

My Aunt and Uncle lived in Cranwich a while ago now. Uncle was a forester and they lived in a tied cottage in the forest. I remember there was a USA Army base not far away through which we walked to get to a farm in order to collect the milk.

This is the most amazing site! It is beautifully written and the photographs are wonderful. I have posted some of your photographs on my Ancestry.co.uk pages (Janice Read family tree) attributing your copyright, URL and stating what a wonderful site it is. Hopefully (as it is a public tree) you may receive some more visitors. I will try and remember to make future Amazon purchases through the site. Congratulations on producing such a brilliant site.

Excellent site - congratulations. So much going on. For those fascintaed by \"the Lord Nelson phenomenon\", I heartily recommend two books by the late John Sugden. \"Nelson, A Dream of Glory\" which is about his life leading up to his action in Teneriffe (a much neglected period by biographers); and \"Nelson, The Sword of Albion\" about his later life. Two huge superb books. Enjoy... Gary xx

I was interested in what you wrote about churches being locked, in this very rural place we have deemed it safer to keep the church locked, not because of theft, but of damage that could be done.We work hard to keep the church and graveyard in good order and a key holder is mostly available to allow visitors in at a few minutes notice.

Hi Simon,
I was walking the path from Winterton through Burnley Hall Estate today, 08/06/14 with my wife. She is an avid birder and both thoroughly enjoying the walk, for different reasons. Have walked the route before and not seen the church remains until today. Spectacular. We thought was it a small priory, big church with bits missing? Didn\'t know until we got home and found your website.
Thanks for answering our questions.

I have been searching for my gr. grandmother\'s family, she was christened about 1820 and also her siblings after her. Her parents were
James Vout and Mary with no maiden name for the mother.
Rebecca was christened in 1820 came to Canada sometime in the 1830\'s and married in Cobourg Ontario to Jonas Thurston who was originally from Bunwell Parish.
came across this old church and thought it looked so interesting.
good work to you,,

visited St George, Shimpling, Norfolk today & found further information on my family history. There is a list of known names & graves in the entrance porch. My thanks to whoever researched that information, it\'s a great help. It\'s especially nice to be able to visit a family grave/s from time past. My family history goes back to at least 1763 at this church & others in the area.
Thanks, Dennis

Undertaking research on Dr. Charles Burney (d. 1814), and his time spent in King\'s Lynn, Norfolk. Came across this website while looking for information on and photos of St. Margaret\'s Priory, King\'s Lynn & the history of the organ, constructed by Snetzler. Happy to see such a wealth of info/ images: keep it up! Best wishes from Canada
