In doing my family research I discovered that my father\'s side of the family came mainly from the Neatishead, Irstead, Smallburgh area. I was particularly interested in my great great grand parents John ( a shoemaker in Neatishead) and Jemima Jones. Jemima, whose maiden name was Balls seems to have been an especially strong and feisty woman whom I would have loved to have known.

I was looking for a record of ministers at the Church in Hingham.

Where are you from?

Ottawa Canada

Rev. John Yonges was not allowed to board the Mary Anne of Yarmouth in 1637. Some say he went to Hingham in 1637 and then to New Haven Connecticut in 1640 then to Long Island to set up the first church in New York. Others say that he was smuggled aboard some ship and made it to Salem in 1637 and then to New Haven. So I am trying to solve this puzzle. I have visited nearly every corner of England when I lived there in the 1990s, except for East Anglia. I think that I have to go back.

Googled Little Dunham Church

Where are you from?

Originally London but living in Basildon, Essex

Please enter your comments!

My 4x great grandfather was Henry Jowett, rector of Little Dunham for 38 years until his death in 1830. I visited the church in 2012 and found a memorial plaque to his memory on the outer wall near the church entrance. I couldn\'t find his headstone, or that of his wife Charlotte, both of whom are buried in the churchyard. I hope to return one day to continue my search.

I am searching for information on the Dagworth family - Nicholas, etc. I understand that they are my ancestors on my father\'s side (Osgoodby was the last name in England). Osgoodby married Maryann Dagworthy - and the Dagworth\'s are her ancestors, too. She is my great-great grandmother. I am doing fun genealogy on my family. Thank you very much. Very interesting what you have provided

We visited Carleton Rode All Saints in Sept. 2013. My cousin was honored on the plaque from a mid-air collision over Carleton Rode, 11.Nov. 1944. A very nice lady gave us a tour of the church. I would like to make a donation to the church if someone would be so kind as to how I can do that from the USA. Thanks.

My attention was drawn to Gasthorpe church after reading a piece on deserted villages in the Eastern Daily Press. I\'ve known the ruin was there for 40odd years but I\'m thrilled to have come across this excellent site and will use it in the future. Both Norfolk and Suffolk have some of the most glorious churches in the country.

Wonderful photographs! In doing genealogical research, looking into Great Saxham and New Buckenham, I did find an ancestral plaque but then went on to view all the photos because they are so good and give me a peek into the history of my forebears as well as a glimpse of a bit of the country I love so well. Thank you.
