The 2010 season is on, with the first few Halibut moving in to sportfishing range. Bouoy 4 area is now holding a few good size fish. Yesterday's trip resulted in several fish in the 40-70lb range caught on 16oz grub jigs in 130ft of water. Productive colors were orange and white. The backside of William's reef seemed to be full of cod still. The chickens should be there by the end of the month. The inside of Woody island produced a handfull of chickens caught incidentally while jigging for cod between the wooden dock and the south green bouoy. We started on the ledge in 80ft and drifted to the bottom of the dropoff in 120ft. Jigs used were 16oz Vikes and chrome and glow 10oz Sumo xl's. Anglers wanting to get some early action will be rewarded if they show some patience, but most folks are waiting until the end of the month when the strong numbers of fish move in.
