The historical society's book "In Search of the Turkey Foot Road" has several photos of the old John Mattingly homestead (which still has the stone house and old log buildings), and shows where the farm is located. It also gives information on when Mattingly bought the farm, and who inherited it from him. If your Mattingly's came from the Mount Savage area, changes are good that you descend from this early area settler.
