I have been researching my Winston Family line from Bonham, Fannin, Texas. I found the probate of Mary Burton (white) of Louisiana (1864). She had children with the surname of McDade and she gifted her slaves to them in her will in 1864. The book references Fannin County, unfortunately it is not correct. I had someone search Fannin County records and it is not there. I have no doubt that the record exists because all the names that are referenced in the book are those of my ancestors. It is just that the county is incorrect. I will search Lamar, Smith, Red River. If you want to compare notes, contact me. I will be traveling to the area this summer.
