Remember the number 69 caper?

I remember the defication issue well and standing at attention with Von Miller ( Capt. Miller ) very upset screaming at us. Anyone remember the "69" caper? How we all had "69" written everywhere, on our text books etc? Untill one of the big wigs found out what "69" stood for? Then we were all forced to remove any and all "69's" off of everything? Another time they were not impressed or pleased with us. I don't however remember what year it was anyone else remember the year?

Re: Remember the number 69 caper?

I think that must have been the 63-64 school year. That's one of these events of life I'll never forget. I will always think of LTC St. Marie with fond memories, but that afternoon he just lost control of himself. I never could understand how he could be so out of touch with things in the real world. I understand his anger over something he obviously though was disgusting, but he was so outraged and upset that I was afraid he was going to have a heart attack. Bob.

Guess the class of 60' must have been a lot of wusses! Don't remember us doing anything like some of the things you guys did - maybe I was too busy shooting pool & smoking in the Rec. Room

Re: Re: Remember the number 69 caper?

We were class of 70, But I think at the time i remember everyone wishing they were class of 69. I think we all wanted to graduate in 69, and I am sure that some of us did on a weekend or two.

Bob,That wouldn't have anything to do with the fire alarm bell in Niles hall that nearly took off someones foot. As I remember a fire drill was called and when someone probably Col St Marie when to pull the rod in Niles Hall the rod attached to the bell in G Company came crashing down and almost went thur someones foot. I know the whole school was out on the slab for that one and he was pretty hot. We stayed out there for at least two hours with not much clothing on as we were asleep when the bell in North barracks went off. I'm still looking for the guilty one on that Caper.
