Covington needs a recycling program, like Bradford and Piqua offer. Does anyone have information on who to contact about this topic, or does anyone know if this is something our village is planning to get involved with in the future? Any information would be helpful.....thanks!
I have requested a copy of the Village Recycling Policy that I will post on www.covingtonohio.org. In the mean time I visited the Covington Park and this is what the sign says. These Materials Only, Cardboard, Office Paper, Plastic Bottles, Aluninum Cans and Newa Papers. There are several containers located at the Covington Park that these items may be disposed of. Thanks for being a recycler.
People were filling the recycling bins with bags of their garbage. These were probably people from outside of the village because I assume they didn't want to pay to have it picked up. The recycling company was determining that the garbage content in the bins was too high and just dumping them as garbage, not recyclables. So basically the village was using the tax money of people in town who were paying for garbage pickup already to just dump additional garbage. So there was little choice but to get rid of them. There will be a public work session at the village hall on Saturday morning January 16th where public input is sought for the future of garbage and recycling in Covington. Everyone who has input is urged to attend.
