Ambassador Stresses Political Stability

The US Ambassador to Fiji has stressed that political stability is a must for investors and tourists coming to Fiji.
While speaking at the Fiji Islands Hotel and Tourism Association's Annual Show in Nadi today, Larry Dinger has called on all the political leaders to embrace Fiji's multicultural nature, to promote stability by ensuring a free and fair elections next year.
Dinger said election results should be accepted as the coups in Fiji were devastating economically and politically
Meanwhile he also said that economic future is dependent on the successful expansion of the tourism sector.
Dinger said the world is becoming more globalized, meaning Fiji will have great difficulty competing in the textile and sugar markets. However he said Fiji can do a lot in the tourism, data processing and Mahogany sectors.
Dinger stressed that Fiji should work with the US to further open the global trading system. He said the US is prepared to eliminate all tariffs, subsidies and other barriers to free the flow of goods and services if other nations do the same.
