Amherst Co., VA - A close call for two men Tuesday night when their boat almost went over the Reusens Dam on the James River in Amherst County. Police say Jeremiah Gardner and his father were out fishing on the James River when the starter went out on their boat.
They say the waters carried them downstream towards the dam - but the quick-thinking men managed to tie their boat to a buoy and call for help. Rescue crews found them floating in the middle of the river just 100 yards from going over.
