The 4th annual brookneal catfish tournament will be held April 28, 29 and 30. This tournament runs the same weekend as the 19th annual striped bass tournament. An entry fee of $40 is required from each angler. Registration and weigh-in will be held at the brookneal boat ramp, located under the staunton river bridge on 501 in brookneal. Anglers may begin registering at 9 am on friday the 28th. Registration ends at 8 pm on the same day. The tournament shall begin at 8pm friday april 28th and end sunday april 30th at 2 pm. the largest single catfish caught and weighed prior to 2 pm on sunday april 30th will be declared the winning fish. Fishing is limited to the area between Leesville dam and the intersection of Difficult creek and the staunton river. PRIZE MONEY GUARANTEED. First place $1000, second place $500, and third $250. There will be a livewell on site for these trophy cats. The catch and release method will be used unless the angler request use of the fish.
