Night Striper Fishing

Inetersted in fishing for Stripers at night. Is this done with live bait? Is it best to fish deep, as I would during the day, or do you bring everything shallow (live bait)? What about best time, early evening, midnight, just before day break?
How about floating lights? Are they allowable, appropriate for Striper fishing?
Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

I've heard that broken back rapala's work good.

Re: Night Striper Fishing

my favorite type of fishing...the water has gotten too warm, try between april and june, between 11pm and 3am, the calmest darkest night you can find, don't turn on any lights and don't make any racket, and fish top water plugs around points and shoals. I gave up about 3 weeks ago, they completely quit any surface activity before July 1st. Never tried them deep-water after dark, I suppose it'd work if you can find them.
