New Bern Fishing?

I'm going to New Bern Mon. - Thurs. with work for a class, I'll have every night free, Is there any fishing to be done around that area? Hoping to wet a line while i'm down there.
Thanks,
Mike

Re: New Bern Fishing? I wanna go...

Yes. You might say there is some fishing to be done there.

I love to fish that area. Put in at Lawson Creek Park (for free - just off Hwy 70) and head up the Trent. Absolutely beautiful water with a pretty good variety of stuff to fish. Mainly boat docks for me. I like some of the creeks off of the Neuse just below New Bern, but I'll take the Trent in the late afternoon situation.

Carry a good variety of tackle. My recommended items.
Yellow floating worms.
White floating worms.
June bug floating worms.
Pink floating worms.
Green floating worms.

If you like to fish floating worms, be sure to carry some floating worms.

Re: New Bern Fishing?

I'm gonna be limited to bank fishing due to driving company vehicle, what types of fish are in that area, also is it Brackish water or fresh, I was thinking that maybe some cats maybe running up the river, but im not sure.
Thanks again,
Mike
