Pontoon Boat - Downriggers

Please, looking for some direction from one of the pontoon fishermen that have installed downriggers on their boat. My boat is 20', has a very small rear deck area not allowing use of fishing equipment, so I have to go to the side rails which are square. Because of the bimini top the mounts will likely have to be midway up the boat.
Any feedback is much appreciated. My email address is attached so please feel free to drop me an email or respond within the forum.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Pontoon Boat - Downriggers

if your mounts are going to be that far forward on the boat try and buy down riggers with the longest boom you can find. you will need the disatnce to keep the cables from heading towards the outboard when you are turning. the booms on my scotty down riggers extend out to 60 inches and tilt up to make rigging easy. with the swivel mount you can also turn them in to the boat to do your rigging and then swivel them back out to fish
