Normally when I go to Kerr I use downriggers and troll the CD series redfin and bucktails. It is getting harder all the time to find them at a decent price. Has anyone had luck using the short lip shallow red fins?
I haven't done a lot of lake fishing specifically for stripers is a few years but have caught them on the short lipped rebels you describe. The thing is - getting them in the zone you want them. With a downrigger the lip is no big deal as long as you figure the reduced depth of the small lip and reposition the ball accordingly. We used lead core (downrigger is much better) and had good luck.
