it does not matter, i've caught many bass on spinnerbaits, never seen one in a lake or pond. bass eat anything that'll fit in there mouth. (but, yes, nearly every pond i ever fished has craws)
I grew up thinking that plastic was the way to go this time of year. Throw a 8in. culpret worm, the color of the water should match the color of the worm. In other words in a black water or clear water pond use a black worm, in a brown water pond, use a brown worm, slow retrieve bumpin on the bottom, it want be long, Ohh, litle bump, Drop the rod, movin to the left, line gets tight, Set the hook!!!! Dang, I love dragin that worm!!!
