Recently was fishing at Kerr and caught several bass that had small bright red worms that were thread size that were embedded in the roof of their mouths. We were able to remove one and it would curl up into a tight coil. It was no longer than a 1/2 inch and did not seem to effect the fishes health. Any ideas as to what this parasite is?
some sort of roundworm, probably harmless unless the bass gets an infection where it's attached, cook your fish well to above 140 degrees and none of the freshwater parasites will invade you, not even tapeworm.
