I plan on going camping with my son at longwood park May 4th week end. Can anyone give me some tips on catching crappie at night this time of year? I use a light around the gridges during summer. But this time of year I have no clue?

Only night fishing I know about is at Hyco and Falls. Smiles, G

I've never had much luck with that at Kerr for some reason. You'll draw in billions of 1/2" shad, which may be the problem. You can catch eating sized catfish all night long. Like Glenn said they're on fire at Falls, we caught 150+ in 3 hours a few days ago.

How deep you fishing for them Ray?

6' to 12', bigger ones were deeper, like the one Tito caught that was 15" and 2-1/2 lbs.

Biggest crappie I ever caught at night was at Kerr Lake and I used those irritating 1/2 inch shad down on straight line under a greenlight.
