Re: Booms

Chris,

You will eventually end up with 3 booms, small, med and large. The boom you have now would be considered a med. Booms will cover several overlap sail sizes, however for best performance a boom should not be used much more than 60% of it's extension. Also as you increase your sail quiver and booms being relatively cheap to acquire, you will sometimes want to rig a second sail without derigging the first. This is because there is only so much time that the wind will blow, or the wind speeds may fluctuate where you will trade out rigs to be able to keep sailing as conditions vary. I will be happy to change your boom, however one boom will not fit all sizes. This is especially important when getting into the larger sail sizes. I have a boom on my 8.3m sail that is almost all the way in,just to give me maximum stiffness. Let me know what you would like to do.

It was a bust at Marion.
