Obedience

the obedience of =FAITH?
not rules and regs?

Re: Obedience

Hi Al,

Grace unto you, and peace,
from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Yes, obedience of faith; but the seeing faith of His grace and truth, not blind faith or trust in law. For as Paul notes: "whatsoever is not of faith is sin": Rom 14:23, and "the law is not of faith": Gal 3:11. In him is no sin (no law).

However faith is only the first of three things:
1. Faith: faith in grace leads on to hope
2. Hope: hopefulness in truth leads on to
3. Charity: know beyond faith-ing & hope-ing

Sadly many are now in a state of hopelessness rather than hopefulness, because they put their faith and trust in one (1st) law or another (2nd) law, of Mt 22: 38,39 & Rom 8:2 law law. For as JC said: the "second" (law) is "like the first" (law); Or as Paul said: "another law" only produced "all manner of concupiscence" and made him feel "wretched".

So, let us consider JC (by whom came grace & truth) never obeyed nor disobeyed any law, gave law (great trib and thief no place other than being a counter part to put away when the perfect part[grace] came); Rather JC did and said all his truth (about the law) by grace. So he was obdedient to grace, not law; and to seeing faith of grace, not to blind faith of law.

The "grace" of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

Re: Re: Obedience

so, are you saying that the law of life in Romans 8:2 and the law of death are both abolished? I was under the impression that finding fault with the first, he had to establish a second.

Have enjoyed the site! Much enlightenment.

Re: Re: Re: Obedience

Hi Ty,

Grace unto you, and peace,
from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Yes Ty, it seems the law of life mentioned in Rom 8:2 is in "Christ Jesus", which is the reverse of "Jesus Christ"; And God given victory, eternal salvation, eternal life, and peace with God, are all through "Jesus Christ", as noted in the Pauline epistles. Not to mention Paul also notes the only foundation laid is "Jesus Christ". Bible Translators also wished both King and kingdom "Grace, Mercy, Peace", and notably "through JESUS => CHRIST" our Saviour in their Epistle Dedicatory... the operative word being "through".

We are the body of Jesus... not in my Bible.
We are the body of Christ: the end of the law.

The fulness of "Christ": "the end of the law"?
Blot out the law to the point law vanishes. It's "ready to vanish": Heb 8, and "shall vanish": 1Cor 13.

Paul notably mentions both "Christ Jesus" and "Jesus Christ" in his epistles; But also clarifies he is an apostle of "Jesus Christ" and the Saviour is "Jesus Christ". It is noteworthy CJ only appears from Acts to Peter, whereas JC appears from Matthew to Revelation. The NT opens and closes with JC, as do all Pauline epistles. And when looking at CJ vs JC, we find the end focus of CJ is J: "born under the law", whereas the end focus of JC is C: "the end of the law".

And Col 3: 1-3 says if we be risen with him, then our focus (affection) should be "above" (earthy law), where "Christ" is seated at the right of left/right (law/grace). Seated seems to denote the matter of law/grace is settled by aboliton of law, and seated right seems to denote grace is what's right with God, in "which things are an allegory" (Gal 4:24).

Paul gave Corinthians a CJ vs JC (law vs grace) test which they failed, so he warned them be not children in understanding, noting he's also a steward of the mysteries of God as well as a minister of "Christ".

As for the law of life in CJ of Rom 8:2, it no more forever voids the law of sin and death thereof than a law of aerodynamics forever voids a law of gravity. Five deadly plane crashes in August 2005 should make it obvious such law <= law may result in a dead end.

JC made it clear in Mt 22 the second law (love thy neighbor as thyself) is "like the first" law (love thy God with all thy heart). So extrapolating that info to Rom 8:2 we find the second is also "like the first". It's not only "law", but results in "sin and death".

Paul made it clear in 2Cor 3 that all law, whether written in stone or in ink, is to be done away as ministrations of condemnation and death. Paul made it clear in Romans that whatsoever is not of faith is sin (which brings forth death), and reminds bewitched Galatians "the law is not of faith". So, when connecting our biblical dots law = sin = death; Not to mention connecting these biblical dots:
- Our Father, deliver us from "evil" : Mt 6
- We are delivered from the "law": Romans 7

Regarding "ordinances" (laws) Paul plainly said: "touch not, taste not, handle not" and also gave the reason for such: all perish with the using.

We have to remember it's all "allegory" if the two sons of Abraham are the two covenants and such things (two covenants) are an "allegory". And it's allegoric "mystery", which Paul said in Rom 15:4 was "written aforetime for our learning".

So the objective is y(our) learning, and becoming aware of the "wiles" of the devil, of devilish law. The objective of enlightenment being to become so aware that you cannot be deceived, duped, subverted, perverted, carried away, bewitched, or tempted with law by any man, not even if such is an angel (minister); for Satan has ministers disguised as the ministers of righteousness. They (and "many" such) play "their part": God is evil (law) spoken of. But "your part" is: God is glorified (with grace glory).

Your part, of two parts being played out, is further clarified in Titus 2 as using "sound speech" to the point he that is on the "contrary part" is ashamed.

The two opposing parts are played by many vs few. We are foretold "many" shall come... to "deceive", so take heed and give more earnest heed to what's said. Many false prophets shall rise. Many false teachers are among you. The question is how well do you play your part, how well is God glorified by you? Can you pass the faith test, the holiness with sobriety test? Heaven wants to know, for a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump, just like a little cancer kills the whole body (including the head of the body) if it's not all removed in time. The "operation of God" is to remove it all (law: sin and death) in time. Thereby none perish in the body.

The "grace" of our Lord "Jesus Christ" with you all. Amen.
