Phoenix confirm Junior Trials

Having confirmed plans for a full Junior Ice Hockey Development structure, the Manchester Phoenix are delighted to confirm that a date for hockey trials for Under 14’s, Under 16’s and Under 19’s has been arranged.

Trials will be held at the Deeside Leisure Centre Ice Rink on Saturday July 1st between 4pm and 7.30pm. The age group timings will be U-14 – 4pm to 5pm; U-16 – 5pm to 6pm with U-19 from 6.15 to 7.15pm. The age group determination is the age as of December 31st, 2006, and there will a nominal charge of £5 per player.

Players wishing to take part should arrive at the rink no later than 45 minutes before the allotted trial time begins and the club regrets that for safety and insurance reasons, only players with complete hockey kit will be permitted to skate in the trials.

The club intends to hold further trials for Under 10’s and Under 12’s later in the summer, with dates still to be arranged.

A club spokesperson commented, “These trials are just the first stage of the foundation of a true hockey development programme. The intention is to give as many youngsters as possible a chance to skate and demonstrate their current capability so that initial grading can stream them accordingly.”

The Manchester Phoenix Junior Ice Hockey Trials arranged for July 1st at Deeside Ice Rink will be used for the specific purpose of selecting players for teams to play at Under 14, Under 16 and Under 19 level for entry into league play for the forthcoming season.
