Ice Hockey Memorial Game

Ged, Eileen and NM Greg Ruxton have been members of West Coast SHC since we formed in 1999 and we have spent many happy weekends over the years following our sport in BiSHA Ball, BIPHA Puck and on to the Ice, with many Wasps starting at Blackburn playing alongside Greg from U12's.

Sadly just over a month ago Eileen was tragically killed in a road traffic accident near her home in Bolton.

Graham Lomax and Blackburn felt that it was only fitting that we could help raise funds towards the family's chosen charity by arranging a game in honour of Eileen and Derian House Children's Hospice.

A Memorial Ice Hockey Game in Memory of Eileen Ruxton with a select team V Hawks is on Sunday 20th November at Blackburn FO 6pm with a Buffet and drinks in the bar after the game.
All the players representing the select team have at some stage in their lives either played for Blackburn or Wasps with Greg or known the Ruxton family personally and are currently EIHA registered (permission to play has been given from there respective clubs and the EIHA).

Bobby Caunce, Jordan Owen, Stew Marriott, Richard Bentham and Chris Arnone will be turning out with Greg Ruxton, Craig Rogers, Oliver Lomax, Harry Hall, Chris Keating, Andy Moss, Jackson Hall, who all play for or have played for Wasps and at Blackburn at some time in the past along with other Blackburn U19's for this event.

If YOU can come and support this event it would be much appreciated by ALL who knew Eileen.

Regards

Mick

Re: Ice Hockey Memorial Game

Anyone attending the Memorial game at Blackburn on Sunday I have negotiated a £2 special price including skate hire if needed, normaly it's £3.60 + skate hire. You need to enter by the side door and pay for Public Skating when you pay for the game entry with Mark Halliwell.

Re: Ice Hockey Memorial Game

For Greg (#64 - netminder for the ETR select) Laura and myself this was an extremely emotional night in memory of Eileen, a wonderful wife and Mother.
What can I say? It's hard to begin to express how much this meant to us and how much we were looking forward to this game. Masses of credit goes, in particular to Graham, whos concept this was. Thanks a lot mate. Thanks also to all the folks from the Hawks and Thunderhawks for playing in this game and buying the memorial shirts. Thanks to the Thunderhawks parents for bringing along food for the buffet afterwards. Thanks to all our friends who have departed from Blackburn and turned up to play in and support this game. Thanks to to the referees and all the staff at the rink for making the evening go so sweet. Thanks to the Sparrowhawks for giving us the exhibition game and for going round with the collection buckets. Thanks also to the large crowd who turned up in support and for the kind donations to Derian house childrens hospice. Having friends like you guys is helping us get through this very bad time. There is talk about having this game as an annual event. I certainly hope it will be to keep Eileen's memory alive. Cheers......Ged, Laura and Greg Ruxton
