May I suggest that you have the wrong end of the stick.

While your argument has a certain validity the real issue here is that Minister Brennan made a solemn promise. If politicians are to be trusted then they must keep their promises. If Fianna Fail are to be trusted then they must learn to keep their promises.

The real issue is whether Fianna Fail intend honouring a promise or not? The answer is simply yes, or no and if the latter the electorate will know what to do and throw them out.
