Former Barton Transport (Nottingham) vehicles.

Wondered if anyone knew of the whereabouts of any former Barton Transport (Nottingham) vehicles in The Republic of Ireland ? I know that Kells Museum, Cork own 538 FTO538V now 79-KE-545, and I intend to come over from London to see her in the new year. In the latest edition of The PSV Circle's 'Preserved Buses', it shows former Barton 534 ERB534T, now 79-WX-628 belonging to a Phelan, New Ross, I wondered if anyone knew her exact whereabouts so I could see her whilst over ?

Re: Former Barton Transport (Nottingham) vehicles.

Hi There,

The one in the museum in cork is in a bad way, having ben stripped for parts as the body is very corroded, a lot of engine parts went on CIE E106 and a number of seats were also removed for other coaches. The interior is full of interesting metal objects too! The other 79WX vehicle was scrapped in 2005 as far as i can find out.

Re: Former Barton Transport (Nottingham) vehicles.

Hi,me again, I came over to the museum last Thursday, weather dreadful, but thoroughly enjoyed my visit, amazing amount of vehicles, I could have spent a week there !

Saw 538, yes she is in bad nick, but at least she is still with us !

Anyway I got another snippet of info re an ex Barton Leopard which may be in the yard of Wharton, Crossdoney, Co Cavan. She is former Barton 1585 PTV585X, Irish reg 81-WX-538, have seen a photo of her in their yard, but dont know how old it is. Have tried e mailing and phoning Whartons, but no response. Any idea ??
