Philly Runners -- Welcome

Welcome to our Philly Runners forum. This message board is provided for running-related discussion in the Philadelphia area and around the world. You are welcome to start your own topics and reply to others.

You don't need to post only running-related items, but commercial interests don't have a business being on here (unless you're trying to sell your used treadmill, for example). We don't have "rules" but will try to use our best good-faith judgment.

Please do not list the full name of anybody other than yourself. Please use first names only or first name plus first letter of last name. Messages that include full names will be deleted.

When starting a topic for an event with a specific date, please list the date of the event in the subject line. For example: "Media 5 Miler Friday June 17".

Some posts will be deleted after a while due to space limitations. Have fun, and please be sure to visit our main website for more information on our club and more running-related information.

Looking for company for a "tourist" run

Hello !

I'm new here, I hope you can forgive my English.

I'm in town until Monday, coming all the way from France, and I would love to have a short run in the city with some local people; That would be a great way to discover Philly and to meet people. I'm not a crazy fast runner, especially as I'm back from an injury, so I would love to keep it short (in the 30-40min range), and of course not too fast (I'm quite sure I can be under 10min/miles easily).

I'm staying in the city center, in S. Philip street. Would anybody be interested by a short run like that, on Friday, Sat or Sunday ? And maybe a beer after it, or anything you think I would love to discover !

Good evening !

François

François -

Bienvenue à Philadelphie!

We have runs on Thursday evening and Saturday morning and you are welcome at both or either. We just so up, introduce ourselves and go running. Some of us even, incroyable, parle un peu Français!

Come join us.

Thanks for your answer Brian !

Sounds good to me, I'll see when I can join, but it will definitely be on one of them at least (providing my long walks in the city didn't kill my legs yet ;-) !

I'll see you there, I'll be delighted to share some French words with you and anything that can be interesting.

The meeting point is at the top of the stairs I imagine ? I don't know Philly at all, but if there is ONE place I do know, is this one, ah ah ah.

Hi Francois.

Welcome to Philly!

The meeting spot is at the bottom of the steps.

Details are here. Arrow marks the spot: http://www.phillyrunners.org/map.html

If for some reason we can't be there head to the right (as you are looking at the steps) and walk along Kelly Drive until you find us. Sometimes we are displaced by 50 feet, sometimes by 500 feet. We'll be as close to the meetup spot as possible.

We have runs this evening and Saturday morning. You're welcome at either or both, regardless of how fast you run or how much distance you want to run.

See you soon!

Re: Looking for company for a "tourist" run

Thank you Seth, should be hard to miss you now !

I asked Brian by email, but in case he is busy with work, is it possible to leave my stuff somewhere there (I have no car here), or should I travel light ? Without forcing anybody to shorten his training of course, I wouldn't like that; It's just to know and plan accordingly. (I hope my English makes enough sense, I didn't had my coffee yet, ha, still jet lagged).

Thanks !

François

Hi Francois.

Travel light. If you must, bring some clothes you don't care about in a plastic bag and you can put that in the bushes. Money, credit card, etc, should stay on you.
