My great-grandfather, John McGowan, was born in Mt.Savage before the Civil War.
His father, Anthony McGowan, was from Ireland. Where can I find any more about my family in Mt. Savage? Any help is appreciated.

I've been looking for a connection for your relatives. The only reference to a McGowan is for a company that once ran the Iron Works and Brick factory. I list them being from Pittsburg.( McGowan, Wright & Co )
