Initial search shows James Bennett first appeared in the Census of 1891 living st 4 Fore Street. Full details were:
James Bennett 34 years Shoemaker
Ellen Bennett Wife 46 years
Edith Daughter aged 9 years Scholar
William James Son 7 years Scholar
Ellen M Daughter 5 years Scholar
James remained the Head of the Household in the Census of 1901 where he appeared as Bootmaker and Rural Postman. at which time both Daughters had left, with one, Ellen employed as a servant at Cypress House to Percy Shelley, Surgeon.
The next trace we have is from Trade Directory in 1914 when WIlliam Bennett was listed at 4 Fore Street asd a Bootmaker4 |
