Replying to:

Change of Subject line for reference.

This started as an enquiry about a book, but went on to become a potted biography of very fondly remembered grandparents (and great grandparents [all died pre 1930] to those, now I think all gone, who remembered them). Given the number of my grandparents' siblings (my grandmother was also one of 6/7), I'm aware that I have many relatives who continue to live in the area, as well as those like myself who have moved away (though in my case, I intend to return), and I'd certainly be interested in hearing from them in gathering further information on the Tucker / Partridge / Drew / Davis family lines (for example, I recall my grandmother, just before she died, mentioning that my great great grandmother [I think Elizabeth Davis, on my grandfather's side] had at one time been a midwife in ?? Bampton [Devon] - or was it Crediton; foolishly, I didn't write it down. Crediton would seem more likely, but... - and then again, maybe in those days, most / many 'ordinary' women were midwives because...). I'd also be very interested in photographs of my great grandparents; marriage photographs perhaps, maybe where they lived when they were living there, what they were doing (say working, riding horses, hunting) that exist as, with the exception of a few of great grandmother Partridge, nee Drew, one being at White Witches, I have none. The same applies with regard to my grandparents pre 1931 before they moved away from the Witheridge area (though I do have a very few - copies - of other siblings, including a quite early one of my grandfather's sister Blanche, who emigrated to Canada - unsure when (? 1905 => 1920). Then there's the 'mystery' one referred to above...

Enough...! I could go on, but work beckons...

With kind regards,

Chris Tucker - Stewkley, Buckinghamshire
