V FOR VENDETTA
I finally got around to seeing V For Vendetta the other day. On one level it is a bizarre cartoonish action movie, but on another not so subtle level it is an indictment of totalitarianism and the use of fear to control people. The anti-hero, V, is a product of the evils of totalitarianism and the anti-heroine is a product of fear. Go buy the DVD or buy several and give them as 9/11 gifts. |

V for Vendetta is one of those movies that spurs one to think. V, although considered an anti hero, is really attempting to shake people from their lethargy and awaken the spirit of freedom inate within them. My favorite line is when he is talking to London during his take over of state sponsered TV and he states that freedom, justice and fairness are not just views but "perspectives." This statement says it all. |
