Excerpt
At NaNoWriMo, there's a forum called "Life After NaNo." I set up a new forum topic about my novel (they clean out all the forums in October before kicking off the event in November). Anyway, I got a response from a writer in Florida, "DragonYoga," who was interested in the story, but, being deaf, wanted to know if I had any substantial text up. I hadn't planned on putting up any long samples of the novel, because that can gum up some of the publishing rights, and I wasn't thinking of excerpts until after I had a completed novel, but after double checking the info via Google, I said why not? The first chapter as excerpt seems to be a pretty standard method of marketing fiction (and getting published in literary journals - well, the ones that cover genre ficton). So, on the book page and my home page, click the highlighted "novel excerpt" link and read the edited manuscript version of Chapter 1... |
