HI JOhn. Great job with the old T18. It must have been exciting. Were you using your spinaker?
I have also discovered that the T18 does much better with the genoa let out quite a bit, especially when changing directions, and in heavy wind.
When I change directions, I let the genoa way out, then reel it in when the boat is aimed where I want it to go. It's cool to feel the boat accelerate when you pull it in when it is pointed in the right direction.
I am not very up to speed on boating terms. What can I say, I'm a Hobie 16 guy! "Hey, we're turning LEFT. Throw me that ROPE! I drive my sailing club brother nuts!
Peace!
-Tom. |
