before you do all that, move the mast 2 to 3 inches forward. Also in winds over 10 knots begin to shorten the head sail first, not the main, as the wind goes, either roll it in, or move to a spitfire - small jib and she will point 40 degrees into the wind, the best you could hope for on most any small boat, we just beat a bunch of Catalina 22's in a tropical storm, and pointed 40 degrees into the wind, PULL DOWN THE GENOA EARLY, MOVE THE MAST FORWARD 3 INCHES. |
