Practical Katana
Hi there! I just wanted to get a second opinion on the Practical Katana as I intend to buy one soon. Does it cut well and is it easy to damage? Also does it come with a sheath/scabbard(whatever they call them in Japan! Thanks

practical katanas usually come with saya (scabbard). depending on the metal the forges use, normally spring steel, which is quite flexible and easily bent or damaged. do not attempt to cut with it, especially on anything that is harder than cardboard boxes. if you are to use practical a katana, may i suggest that you only use it for kata and drawing drills, although you can use it for techniques involving a partner, but be very cautious. best wishes

I wouldn't say they are too easy to damage. I have one, and I've tried to cut through telephone poles with it. It didn't work, of course, but it didnt break. |
