The best sword between...
The Spartans were full time, dedicated warriors and used the spartan sword similer to the one on this website, they no doubt considered all swored makes and possibilities when they created their swored including the longer thiner sword (AKA Japanese samurai, or ninja sword etc) but they opted for their sword...the Japanese would have considered the Greek sword and rejected it thinking their's was the best. Which one would be the most effective in serious combat??...........Biased must be ruled out because everyone I know says the Japanese cos of all the movies (Shogun Assassin etc), but how many ancient Greed/Roman movies kick-arse sword heroes are out there |

It's not so much a question of which sword is best, as it is, which sword is best for...(insert scenario here). By design, the samurai's katana is meant for slash and pull type fighting, or a cut based system, whereas, the Greek/Roman Gladius is meant for a piercing/stabbing fighting style. One works well against certain armors, or lackthereof, while the other is for use against platemail, with it's crevices. |
