A Simple Question

I have seen several different ways swords were rated in quality. The main sword rating I have seen so far is based on the amount of folds made during the forging process. But now on this site Ive seen swords showing stuff like - RC 40-24 Edge - or something like that. Can someone please explain what this means?

And as far as the "fold rating system" goes, what is a good amount of folds to have on a sword. I have seen some cheaper ones at about 440 and I'm just wondering what's a good number to look for?
good news
