ABC and 123's

Making teaching the ABC's and Numbers to the 3 to 5 population can be fun or someone challenging, I'm looking for a few good ideas to help extend my curriculum for a 2 week unit. Can any one help. I'm going to open the unit by reading chicka chicka boom boom my bill martin jr and then we are going to explore coconuts what do to you think ? ideas appreciated.

Did you know there is also a book by Bill Martin called Chicka Chicka 1, 2, 3 .....

Also there are so many websites with theme ideas for alphabet and chicka chicka boom boom theme, Google it.

thanks michelle, for the addtional websites. I was actualy googleing when i received your reply. It's always great to see how others find there information. Resources sharing that's what I enjoy about your site the resources which you provide are exceptional.

HI Maria,
I did a theme on these books and it was SOOoo fun! I found coconut pictures online and printed them out, added numbers on one set and ABC's on the other and then laminated them so they would last. I made additional sets for my flannel board. I purchased the Chicka Chikca Boom Boom DVD from scholastics and used it for our "movie time" on Friday (I always try to make our video about what we are learning about). I also made smaller coconuts for counting activities and number and alphabet shapes for many other activities as well. If you like making your maerials, you can do a lot with this theme and not have to send a ton of money.
