Come on now Cindy! You should be able to figure this one out. Take your child by the hand and march over to the neighbor's house and ask them when/if they've paid your son $35 recently. That will let your son know that you aren't taking his word for it and might just be what it takes to stop this behavior. If the behavior doesn't stop, then you've got a tough situation on your hands because your son is going to get the idea that stealing is OK and by not taking control, even though it's only "family," you are in effect condoning the behavior. Believe me, it will escalate until he starts stealing from non-family and stores, etc. Don't let this happen! By the way, take a look at my website: http://www.blackerandassociates.com for tips on dealing with this kind of child.
Good luck. |
