Philly Runners Message Board

Welcome to our Philly Runners forum. This message board is provided for running-related discussion in the Philadelphia area and around the world.  Philly Runners was founded March 27, 2002.  You are welcome to start your own topics and reply to others.

You don't need to post only running-related items, but commercial interests don't have a business being on here (unless you're trying to sell your used treadmill, for example). We don't have "rules" but will try to use our best good-faith judgment. Some posts will be deleted after a while due to space limitations.  Have fun!

Philly Half LBRR

So the end of my 9 month season has finally come. On Sunday I ran the 1/2
marathon in 1:40.13, shattering my previous 2004 PDR record of
1:42.38. Yeah!!!!! I have to personally thank my T3 teammate, Steven Back, who paced
me through the first 6 miles. It was a huge advantage for me to have
someone to run behind through the crowd and he gave me some great
encouragement. I still can't believe I ran 4 miles between 7:18-7:22
(2 were with him and 2 were without) and still stayed strong through
the end.

This victory has really been important to me. I have obviously have
improved my triathlon times over the past two years, but my running
has stayed stagnent since 2004 when I ran my best PDR and Broad
Street. It felt AWEOME to break one of those long standing records
and get back to my first love, running. My next goal is to break
21:00 in the 5k. Wish me luck!!!

congrats Marita. Having folks pace you really helps, but it still needed your legs and determination to do it.
