How often do you rehearse and when?
Standard rehearsal times are 7-9 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 4-7 pm on Sundays for two months before a play opens. Some directors alter these times, but you'll be told at your audition when rehearsals will be. You can tell the director of any times you'll be away during the rehearsal period. They may take any absences into consideration when deciding whether to cast you. If you're cast in a play, you'll be given a rehearsal schedule and told when you'll be needed. If you have a small part, you won't be needed at every rehearsal. If you're cast in a main role, you'll be expected to be at most, if not all, rehearsals. In the week or so before opening, rehearsal times will vary because of the technical schedule, so you may need to be more flexible.

For the first six weeks of rehearsals, we use the Upper Chamber at the Wellington Arts Centre/Toi Poneke at 61 Abel Smith Street. For the last two and half weeks before opening, we rehearse at the Gryphon Theatre at 22 Ghuznee Street, Wellington where the play will be performed. Occasionally, we can move into the theatre earlier, but it's safe to assume that most rehearsals will be at the Arts Centre.
